House in Belmonte

House in Belmonte
2017 (work in progress)
Fundo – Luz de Tavira
Coordinator: Jorge Guimarães
Colaborator: João Carranca

The House in Belmonte is a renovation of an old house in the Algarve countryside.
These works were done upon the pre-existing rural constructions where no additional area was allowed to be added. We developed the social area facing both the South and North. No “contrast” was intended in this intervention. The continuity between the old construction and the new one is outlined by tiled roof and the terrace over the living room. The old typical facade was preserved and a new front porch in brick grit was created in order to bring some shade to this side of the house.
