Vilamonte – Casa de Cima

House in Monchique
Marmelete – Monchique

This is a project in the middle of the mountains of “Serra de Monchique” that benefits from a beautiful landscape and its surroundings. The project consists of the renovation of the existing house as the municipality doesn’t allow further expansion of the existing area for the moment. We developed this project aiming for a traditional architectural style in accordance with the local materials and techniques. The project’s main goal, besides from creating large and comfortable areas on the inside, was also to create transversal natural light and ventilation that will allow a much better conditions for its residents. The central fireplace with double opening will be a “key” element in the main social areas. High wooden doors will be placed on the outside just like in the old cellars in order to give the house a rural image.
