House in Rice fields

House in the Rice Fields
2017
Coordination: Jorge Guimarães
Collaborators: João Carranca and Pedro A. Silva

This is a project done some years ago which we don´t know yet if it will be implemented due to to constraints of the local municipality… It was conceived as the enlargement area of an existing house where the new areas should prevent all the privacy towards the pre- existing unit. Patios and pool were disposed in such a way to integrate the new construction in such a way that would prevent pine trees from being removed. At the same time, we adopted traditional construction materials and architectural image, instead of presenting a contemporary architecture or even an adaptation of traditional architecture with “modern” characteristics as our clients felt the need to stick as much as possible to the vernacular “image” of the area, once most of the projects that are being built “adulterate the spirit” of the site and the spirit of Comporta.
